Annemarie’s Classroom Story: For the love of adult learning
My most memorable moment was when teaching a PDA Education Support Assistance class, which was full of mature learners all returning to education after being out of school for a number of years.
As a lecturer I take for granted being immersed in digital learning. During one class I had the joy of watching adult learners discover new learning techniques and possibilities when entering the digital world of learning.
“There were gasps of pleasure and surprise with one learner saying ‘I feel like a kid in a sweetie shop!’.”
We forget how much the digital world has changed the learning environment. Gone are the days when students were passive learners! We now welcome them into the classroom that prepares them to use technology which is the norm in educational settings today.
