Sian’s #ClassroomStory: For the love of finding your own path
My story is called, “Don’t make me follow the crowd.”
It is the story of a boy who came to my class with ADHD, autism, and global delay. He had behaviour issues, found it hard to socialise and had severe mood swings. Life was very difficult for him.
This story is how he showed us that he needed to steer his own learning.
“Our impact came when we listened to him, nurtured his creativity, slotted in maths and literacy, and gave him purpose.”
I will never forget the year when a little boy taught two experienced teachers how to let go of all we knew and make an impact.
He was an individual and needed to be treated as one.
